The overall objective of the Terra-Mine Project is the preservation and valorization of the old mines and quarries of the cross-border area for tourist purposes by strengthening cooperation and enhancing the capacities of local stakeholders.
Within this context, Terra-Mine Project is fully aligned with Program's Specific Objective to valorise cross-border area cultural and natural heritage for tourist purposes.
In addition, the project aims to:
1Improve the current condition and preserve the old mines and idle quarries of the cross-border area.
2Enhance capacities and promote cooperation on local/regional and cross-border level for the development of sustainable tourism activities.
3Develop an integrated approach for the designation and promotion of the local culture and history.
4Pilot innovative solutions for coordinated action among the public sector, business, and the civil society for sustainable forms of development based on the local heritage.
5Improve the attractiveness of the cross-border area and its designation as a thematic tourism destination.
6Provide viable and sustainable sources of employment in tourism-related activities and other sectors, important for the local economies.
7Disseminate the project’s main results and strengthen future cooperation.
