Each year, the 18th of April has been designated by UNESCO and the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) as the International Day of Monuments and Sites.
This anniversary aims to raise public awareness on the important issue of Cultural Heritage protection. Thus, all kinds of events are organized around the world on the initiative of UNESCO and ICOMOS. These events aim not only to notify the general public about the importance and the problems that each country’s monuments meet but also to promote the cause of their protection and their integration into the contemporary social, cultural and economic life.
